We’re excited to share that our Director, Ben Coggins, has been elected to the Torbay Business Board as part of the Devon Chamber of Commerce. The board brings together business leaders from the region to help shape the Chamber’s work and support businesses across the region.
As a business rooted in South Devon, we’re passionate about projects that have a lasting impact. Whether it’s bringing brownfield sites back into use, transforming underutilised buildings or delivering affordable homes to tackle the local housing crisis, our aim has always been to build stronger communities across South Devon.
But that ambition doesn’t stop with the developments we work on. It also means supporting the people and businesses that will shape Devon in the years ahead.
The Devon Chamber’s recently published Greater Devon Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) 2026–2029 highlights the need for employers, education providers and public sector organisations to work together to address workforce shortages and create clearer routes into employment.
Armada Property UK was proud to be one of the businesses the Devon Chamber engaged with during the development of the LSIP, helping to ensure the plan reflects the real skills challenges and opportunities facing the construction sector. Now, we’re equally proud to be helping bring that vision to life through practical action, with the Constructing Futures Foundation created by Armada which directly supports the LSIP’s ambitions to develop skills, create pathways into employment and strengthen the future workforce across Devon.
The UK Industrial Strategy 2025 estimates that around 42,000 additional construction workers will be needed across the SW region by 2030. If we’re going to deliver the homes, infrastructure and regeneration projects our communities need, we also need to invest in the people who will build them.
That’s why we’re continuing to look beyond just bricks and mortar.
Later this year, we’ll be launching the Constructing Futures Foundation, a long-term, multi-stage initiative focused on delivering practical construction training, supporting community regeneration and strengthening the skilled labour pipeline across Devon. It’s a natural extension of what Armada Property UK is passionate about: developing future talent, creating opportunities, partnering with local organisations, and investing in the future of our region.
Ben’s appointment to the Torbay Business Board is another step in that journey. We’re proud that Armada and the wider property sector will have a seat at the table as conversations about the future of Torbay take place. And we look forward to playing our part in helping the region grow – both through the residential projects we create and the people we support through the Foundation.
